Air Bubble Entrainment in Free-Surface Turbulent Shear Flows by H. Chanson,

Air Bubble Entrainment in Free-Surface Turbulent Shear Flows by H. Chanson,
This book develops an analysis of the air entrainment processes in free-surface flows. These flows are investigated as homogeneous mixtures with variable density. The variations of fluid density are caused by the non-uniform air bubble distributions and result from a turbulent diffusion process. Several types of air-water free-surface flows are studied: plunging jet flows, open channel flows, and water jets discharging into air. Each configuration can be characterised as a high-velocity free-surface flow with turbulent shear layers and large air bubble contents. Experimental observations confirm the concept that the air-water mixture behaves as a homogeneous compressible fluid in each case.

The Air Force Historical Foundation 2006 Calendar
The Air Force Historical Foundation 2006 Calendar
New from AMP While the Army Air Forces was established in June 1941, and the U.S. Air Force in September 1947, the indomitable spirit and courage to be America's flyers goes back to the first Wright brothers flights in 1903. Since this first flight, men and women-Billy Mitchell, Jimmy Doolittle, Chuck Yeager-have answered America's call to defend the nation and its allies by dominating its enemies in the sky. Now, more than fifty years after its founding, the spirit and essence of the United States Air Force is celebrated for the first time in an extraordinary desk calendar. With fifty-three incredible images and accompanying text from The Air Force book, this attractive and functional calendar celebrates the Air Force's history, planes, helicopters, rockets, and brave aviators and will certainly appeal to each of the more than 600,000 pilots and Air Force personnel and their proud families as well as to anyone interested in U.S. military aviation.

Air-augmented rocket - Air-augmented rockets (also known as rocket-ejector, integral rocket ramjet, ramrocket, ducted rocket or ejector ramjets) use air collected during flight to use as additional working mass, leading to greater effective thrust for any given amount of fuel. They represent a hybrid class of rocket/jet engines, similar to a ramjet, but are able to also operate outside the atmosphere.

Compressed air energy storage - Compressed Air Energy Storage (CAES) refers to the compression of air during periods of low energy demand, for use in meeting periods of higher demand. Typically, compression is done with an electrically powered turbo-compressor; and expansion is done with a natural-gas powered 'expander' (heater) which drives a combustion turbine.

Compressed air - Compressed air is used to refer to:

Air-to-air missile - An air-to-air missile (AAM) is a guided missile fired from an aircraft for the purpose of destroying another aircraft. It is typically powered by one or more rocket motors, usually solid fuelled but sometimes liquid fuelled.

The variations of fluid density are caused by the compressed air, and because of Newton's third law the rocket is flying under its own momentum). This is the design compressed air rocket.
